Family of murdered Wells Fargo HR manager demands justice

The family of slain Wells Fargo HR Manager Willis Ayieko is demanding for justice as they struggle to come to terms with his brutal murder.

On Thursday, the family was concluding plans to transfer the body from Siaya to the Lee Funeral Home for post-mortem.

Mr Ayieko, went missing last Friday after attending a funeral vigil in Nyamninia, Siaya County.

His orange pick-up truck was later found abandoned near a petrol station in Sabatia,Vihiga county which is a just a few kilometers from where his body was found.

Health practitioners, investigative authorities and the family were working round the clock at the Siaya county referral morgue where his body was taken to prepare it for the journey to Nairobi by road.

His elder brother Aggrey Onyango said they are still yet to come to terms with his loss.

"Who is this my brother Willis offended? I have lived long on this earth but I have never seen anyone murdered like my brother was," Onyango said.

The family said they had asked police to ensure people were not sharing out information on social media sites that would interfere with their investigation.

"We do not want so much information to go out there. We do not want the culprits to know our plans and moves. Now the body is being moved to Nairobi and we will give much information as time goes by," he said.

Ayieko's body was found in floating in a river at Doho village, in Gem a few days after he went missing.

Meanwhile, the Kenya National Private Security Workers Union (KNPSWU) Secretary General Isaac Andabwa has faulted investigative agencies for laxity in rescuing the deceased from the hands of his abductors.

"Our security agencies failed Kenyans and the family of the late. It does not make sense that police can take five good days trying to track and locate a missing person when they have been provided with crucial information," Dr Andabwa said, adding that it was a wake-up call for the security agencies to style up and up their work.

He called on the government, through the Ministry of Interior, to accord the leaders of private security firms with security.

"If a senior leader of a private firm can be abducted in broad daylight, it means things are bad and, therefore, I am calling on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to assure Kenyans their security and, on that note, the high-ranking members of our private security sector should be given security," he opined.

Andabwa said the union was about to enter into a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Wells Fargo company, championed by the deceased regarding the welfare of its workers only for the unfortunate incident to happen.

Gem Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula says Mr Ayieko's body had visible injuries.

"We are yet to discover whether they were inflicted as a result of struggle or not because he could not have been drowned," said Wafula.

The CCTV footage from the petrol station where his vehicle was found showed two men parking it before fleeing the place on a motorbike.
