A new firm will join the list of companies processing macadamia nuts for export market.
Originlike Green Biotech EPZ by Agriculture Food Authority (AFA) will be licensed if there will be no objection from the public.
AFA interim Director General Antony Mureithi, in a Kenya Gazette notice, invites opinions from the public and asks those opposed to licensing of the company to state their reasons.
The new entrant will join a list of 30 companies processing the product grown in 12 counties.
Mureithi said the licensing is part of ensuring all the players respect regulations imposed by the government to promote quality.

He said the law demands that all the players in the sector be vetted and licensed, with defaulters penalised.
“The law requires all the players in the sector to abide by the law to ensure export market is not compromised,” said Mureithi.
He said there was an enforcement team conducting surveillance to ensure only the licensed players were in business.
