Detectives have arrested two suspects after uncovering a clandestine drug lab hidden inside a private compound in Mwabungo village, Ukunda, in Kwale.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Kenya Police conducted the raid following days of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
The suspects, Gianardi Giulio, a 37-year-old Italian national, and Moses Nanoka Egadwa, were arrested at the scene.
Police recovered laboratory equipment and chemicals believed to be used in the manufacture of narcotics, along with packaging material labelled with names of known drugs.
Investigators also found cannabis plants growing on the one-acre property, which was secured behind high walls and a guarded gate.

“The team executed a well-coordinated operation that led to the discovery of a large-scale drug manufacturing setup,” said DCI.
The suspects are being held in custody, expected to face charges in court.
Police said the bust was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle narcotics networks in the coastal region.
