The family of slain teacher and social media influencer Albert Ojwang wants the Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat arrested and prosecuted.
Lagat stepped aside from his official duties on Monday to pave the way for investigations into the death.
But yesterday, Ojwang’s family said that was not enough. “The voice of the family is that Lagat should be arrested and record statements with the police as a suspect. This is when we are sure that he is going to give the true account of what happened,” said the family's spokesperson, Kenneth Ouma.
This came after the father, Meshack Ojwang said they would not bury their son until his killers are prosecuted. “We are still waiting for our security agencies to undertake investigations and reveal who killed Albert. We are not going to bury him before this is done,” he said.
Meshack has been subjected to criticisms by a section of Kenyans for accepting money from senior government officials, including President William Ruto who gave the family Sh2 million while ODM leader Raila Odinga donated Sh1 million.
