Former KNCCI boss Kiprono Kittony shortlisted for global role

The former Chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has been shortlisted to chair the World Chambers Federation (WCF).
KNCCI is a member of the World Chamber Federation, an International Chamber of Commerce headquartered in Paris, France. It is the global umbrella body of Chamber movement worldwide.
According to KNCCI President Erick Rutto, Kittony is a well-known business leader, widely accredited with the revival of the KNCCI.
"We are pleased to announce the inclusion of the former KNCCI President on the final shortlist for the prestigious position of Chairperson - World Chamber Federation, Mr. Kiprono Kittony." Rutto's statement reads.

"Mr. Kittony is a well-known business leader and is also the current Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange and the former Vice Chair of the World Chamber Federation, among other roles He is widely accredited with the revival of the KNCCI."
Out of the six candidates shortlisted for the position, Kittony is the only Kenyan. If he gets the job, he will be the first from the continent to rise to the position.
He has been shortlisted alongside Jean-Pierre Antelo (Bolivia), A.K. Azad (Bangladesh), Rifat Hisarciklioglu (Turkey), Toki Mabogunje (Nigeria) and Rim Siam (Egypt).
Currently, Kittony serves as the Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
In July 2020, Kittony was appointed the new chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, replacing Samuel Kimani who resigned after eight years.
He is also the chairman of the boards of CreditInfo CRB Kenya Ltd, AAR Insurance Ltd., Mtech Ltd., and Radio Africa Group.
Prior to that, the business leader was serving as a non-executive member of the NSE board in 2018.
He was the KNCCI President for two terms since 2012 before he passed on the baton to the current President Richard Ngatia.
