The implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country is halfway done, according to SDGs Kenya Forum Executive Director Florence Syevuo.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, August 10 in Nairobi, Syevuo noted there had been numerous setbacks globally that stalled the progress on most SDG targets, including the Covid-19 pandemic, climate tragedy and the Russia-Ukraine war.
The 2030 agenda for SDGs was adopted in 2015 and embodies the development blueprint for the world.
Kenya has seven years to achieve its commitment to SDGs, hence, a need to double its efforts.
“Now more than ever the world needs all hands-on deck to recover and accelerate efforts to achieve the SDGs, with Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) becoming an indispensable tool of tracking and reflecting on the development progress made,” said Syevuo.
