Union condemns the murder of security guards in Kisumu

The Kenya National Private Security Workers Union has condemned the increased attacks on guards in the Country.

In a statement, the union, led by Secretary General Isaac Andabwa say they will move to court and sue Inspector General of Police (IG) Japhet Koome if the killings continue.

"Guards complement state security agents in protecting life and property yet they remain marginalised and vulnerable.

"So many guards have lost life's while on assignment, but the IG has never come up clear with the database, investigations, findings and actions taken, the perpetrators remain at large," said Andabwa.

The statement comes days after two security guards manning businesses at a building in Kisumu CBD were killed by thugs.

Kisumu Central Sub-County Deputy police commander Jackton Mango said the guards were hit with a blunt object on their heads.

The thugs would proceeded to break into three electronic shops and make away with goods of unknown valuue.

The Secretary General has since appealed to the government to act with speed bringing to book those found culpable of the lawless murders.
