LSK to PSC: Show us relevance of office of Mudavadi's wife

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has threatened to go to court in seven days' time to challenge the legality of the Office of the Spouse of Prime Cabinet Secretary if the Public Service Commission (PSC) doesn't publish the legal framework and financial implications of the said-office.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on February 24 joined his wife, Tessie, at the Movenpick Hotel in Nairobi to launch the now controversial office.

Mudavadi said Tessie's office was established to complement the work done by the Office of the First Lady Rachel Ruto and that of the spouse of the Deputy President, Dorcas Rigathi.

The LSK now wants to know from the PSC the legal framework that led to the establishment of Tessie's office, the financial implications of the office; particularly to the taxpayers, and how Kenyans would benefit from the said-office.

"Supply us with the information stated above within the next seven days to enable us satisfy ourselves on the legality of the office. We shall move to court and challenge the establishment of the office if the information sought is not made available upon the expiry of the period set out," Eric Theuri, the president of the LSK, said in a letter addressed to the PSC on Tuesday, February 28.
