Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan Abdi has been sued for suspending the Constituency Development Fund committee treasurer and a member.
According to petition filed at the High Court, the MP is accused of having written a letter dated October 3 purporting to suspend the treasurer, Issa Ahmed Issah, and a member of the committee, Dave Ntawa.
The petitioners, through lawyer Anthony Oluoch, accuse the MP of purportedly replacing the treasurer with Mr Abdiaziz Mohamed Hirse, who is his relative, in total disregard of the stipulated Act and regulations.
“Hirse, the purported new replacement as treasurer of the CDF committee, is a close relative of the MP, a matter which places the legislator in a position of conflict contrary to law,” they submitted.

Mr Oluoch added that in making such appointments or replacement, the MP was usurping the powers of the CDF board, something that was in breach of the law.
“The decision by the MP is in breach of the Public Ethics Officers Act and the Integrity Act that demands that public officers disclose anything that may conflict with discharge of their official duties,” submitted the lawyer.
He added: “The new appointee is not a member of the Kamukunji CDF committee, a requirement which is precedent to such an appointment,” submitted the lawyer.
