'My giant breasts are making my life a misery'

Giant breasts are making this ­woman’s life a misery but doctors have ­rejected her pleas for an operation.

Dani Markerson, 20, is desperate to reduce her K-cup boobs. They are painful and get her “disgusting” unwanted attention from men.

But two doctors have told her the NHS will not fund a reduction or a reconstruction to reduce the weight in her 36K chest.

The latest blow came in March when a GP told Dani her problems were not bad enough for an NHS operation.

She has had to quit as a soft play instructor because of her breasts which cause extreme pain in her back, neck and knees.

Dani, who is 5ft 7ins and wears a size 12 on the bottom and 18 on top, is trying to save the £6,000 needed to go private.

She said her boobs have been a curse since she was 12 when they “grew overnight” ­attracting lurid comments from older men.

She said: “Getting rid of these boobs is my only chance to live a pain-free life. I’d be able to get back to work and feel confident out.

“When I was a teenager I’d walk to school in my uniform and men would stop and beep the horn, shouting at me to go home with them. The attention I got was disgusting. I’d shout back, ‘I’m only 14,’ but they didn’t care.

“My mum ended up walking me to school. I would say to her, ‘Mum I’m a big girl now.’ She would say, ‘Yes, that’s the problem.’

“Doing PE at school was a nightmare – ­especially things like the long jump. As soon as I landed they would bang in my face.

“It’s more of a curse than a gift having boobs this big. The weight of my breasts is unreal and carrying them around is so painful.”

Dani, of Caerphilly, said: “At work I’d sit down and not be able to get back up again. It feels like I’m carrying heavy shopping bags all the time and I can’t put them down.”

The strain means Dani’s knees have started turning inwards. A physio believes she may even need a double knee replacement.

She added: “I have dips in my shoulders where my bra straps dig in. The NHS won’t fund a reduction unless you have ‘serious’ health problems.”

Health chiefs said they do routinely fund breast reduction operations across Wales if it has been proved there is ­“significant pain or discomfort which affects daily activities and is not ­amenable to routine treatment”.

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board said: “We are unable to comment on individual cases.”
