Clubs taking part in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League will be Sh1million richer before the end of the day today.
This is part of the Sh9million grant promised to the clubs by the federation. FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya speaking after a clubs meeting said yesterday, full action continues at the weekend.
Nyamweya further left a door open for the country’s most popular community clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia to join the FKF Premier League due to what he termed as public demand.
“We have reserved two places for Leopards and Gor Mahia to join us. There has been a lot of demand from stakeholders that we include them and the window has been left open for them to come on board,” he said.
The two clubs have opted to take part in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) where they had fixtures at the weekend with Gor blanking Mathare United 4-2 and Leopards being held to a barren draw by Chemelil Sugar.

The biggest match of the weekend will be between Kariobangi Sharks and Nakumatt at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
Elsewhere, a record 19 goals were scored on the first week of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) which kicked off despite a court order that had been issued on Friday.
Champions Gor ,Mahia and Bandari were the biggest winners stamping their authority on the first day of competition with convincing wins over their opponents.
Gor Mahia will particularly be glad after picking a 4-2 win against Mathare United ahead of their return champions leagues match against CNaPS of Madagascar.
The win will no doubt be a major motivation for the KPL champions as they travel to Madagascar this weekend carrying a slim 1-0 lead into the return leg.
Midfielder Ali Abondo who rejoined Gor Mahia from Tusker at the beginning of this season once again proved that he will be a force to reckon with at Gor Mahia after scoring two goals sending his tally to four in all competitions.
Abondo is fast proving to be an alternative upfront and should be the most motivated player in the Gor Mahia dressing room at the moment.
Youngster Michael Olunga finally opened his account at Gor Mahia and it was in a special way with two goals.
This is also good for Gor Mahia who have been struggling to get a natural scorer after the departure of Dan Sserunkuma to Simba of Tanzania.
Apart from Olunga and Abondo, another players who scored a brace on the first week of competition is Noah Abich (Mathare United).
