Utalii College to host international forum

Kenya Utalii College will host the 55th edition of an international meeting of hotel school directors and deans.

The EUHOFA International Congress is expected to draw more than 1,000 delegates to Nairobi in November, said Utalii Acting Principal Kazungu Mwango.

EUHOFA International, which was set up in 1955, works to improve hospitality training and promote the achievements of its members. More than 140 of the top hotel schools, colleges and universities are represented by their directors who are members of the association.

Kenya last hosted the EUHOFA International Congress in 1996.

“In 2014, the college successfully bid to host the 55th edition of the congress. We continue to play an active role in the association by participating in meetings and congresses held in various parts of the world, the most recent being in Berlin, Germany,” Mr Kazungu said.

“This will not only raise the country’s profile as a tourist destination, but also a competitive conference location.”

The congress will serve as a platform for scholars and practitioners to discuss proposals for the advancement of the hospitality and tourism industry.

Kazungu added that membership to EUHOFA gives members a chance to tour top hospitality institutions and get high-class academic input.

“In addition, membership to this professional body provides opportunities for networking on an international level, access to collaborative projects, as well as new possibilities for exchange programmes.”
