Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County, have arrested a military officer following the death of his girlfriend.
According to police, the officer, based at Kahawa Garrison Defense Forces, had visited his girlfriend at her apartment in the town.
After their meeting, the woman, now deceased, became unconscious and developed difficulty breathing.
Isinya Sub-County Police boss Patrick Manyasi, who confirmed the incident, told The Standard that the officer raised the alarm and the caretaker responded.
"They requested one of the tenants to assist with his car to carry the lady to St Paul's Hospital Kitengela, where she was pronounced dead on arrival," he said.

Upon arrival at the hospital and realizing that the woman had died, nurses advised the two men who had brought her to report the case at the police station.
The officer claimed he was going to call someone to assist them but instead ran away and jumped over the hospital gate.
Manyasi said the officer later returned to the barracks where he reported the matter. He was detained in the guardroom and later escorted back to Kitengela Police Station, where he was questioned by DCI officers and detained.
"We will have to wait for the doctor's report for us to act. The postmortem will be done on Monday next week, and from there we will know the move to take," said the police boss.
The body was transferred to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary.
