Kenya Data Networks Realigns Services, Shifts from Retail to Wholesale Market
BY JAMES RATEMO
Kenya Data Networks (KDN), a leading Telco infrastructure operator in Africa, will now concentrate on the wholesale market following realignment of its services.
The company KDN has already started to move their existing retail customers to their sister company Swift Global Kenya Limited and other resellers.
KDN now intends to focus on the business-to-business market by developing new products that are tailor-made specifically to meet the needs of mobile operators, ISPs, banks and financial institutions and other corporate organisations in need of these services.
KDN, Chief Marketing Officer, Vincent Wang’ombe while addressing the media, said the Telco infrastructure operator, will now concentrate its efforts on wholesale services, on maintaining and increasing its network coverage not only in Kenya but also in the region.

He said the shift aims to improve on the quality of service and also customer satisfaction.
In a statement to the media, KDN's Legal and Regulatory Affairs Manager, Rose Osiemo said the move from retail to wholesale was necessitated by the need to differentiate the company's services from those offered by ISP's.
"At some point it almost seemed as if the company was competing with ISP's who are key customers. The new strategy will give the ISP's a fair platform to compete in the retail market, while enabling KDN to concentrate on the wholesale market through infrastructure building which is our core business," said Osiemo.
