MERU, KENYA: Council of Governors now threatens to sue National Government for delay in release of devolved funds, chair Peter Munya says.
Speaking in Igembe North Sub-county Meru County when he opened two dispensaries in the area, Munya said counties have been forced to cripple some of the services due to lack of funds adding that since August, September and now October the counties have not yet received from the National Treasury.
The council of governors’ chair blamed the National government over the delay saying the counties have accumulated debts in terms of contracts and county employees’ salaries which he says this might lead to unrest in the counties.
The bitter Munya urged treasury to release funds meant for the counties immediately as people at the counties require services and that they are taxpayers.

On politics, the Meru governor said JAP leaders should not force anyone to join the JAP party. He said JAP leaders concentrate with their agenda and that they should not criticise those people who do not want to join the party.
Munya said JAP wants to kill democracy and its leaders have been at the forefront of fighting the governors, a thing which has made governors affiliated to Jubilee coalition to always boycott prayer rallies being organised in the county to pray for the Deputy president William Ruto and Radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang.
Speaking in Meru language, Munya said as governors they are planning on how to come up with their own National political party which will also address devolution wholly.
