Siblings Aron Kipchumba Koech and Nicholas Kiplagat Bett emerged sixth and eighth in the men’s 400m hurdles finals at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth games in Australia.

Koech crossed the finish line at 50.02 while his brother Bett at 51.00.

The two Kenyans failed to beat the prowess of British Virgin Island’s Kyron McMaster, Bahamas’ Jeffery Gibson and Jamaica’s Jaheel Hyde who finished first (48.25), second (49.10) and third (49.16) respectively.

The race saw Kenya drops to position 24 in the medal table with only 6 medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

Bett who was deemed the favourite said that he saw darkness towards the finish line, raising questions among Kenyans whether it was as a result of witchcraft.

‘Niliona giza pale mwisho’ Bett told the media after the race.
