Ronaldo named the wealthiest footballer on the planet

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the world’s richest footballer with fortune of £152m ahead of Rival Lionel Messi who came in second place with a net worth of £145m, according to Goal.com.

Barcelona striker Neymar is ranked third in the Goal Rich list with a net worth of £97.9m million, followed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Paris Saint-Germain in fourth place (£76.1m) and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is the highest-ranked Englishman on the list in fifth on £74.6m.

Goal estimates footballers net worth based on identifiable assets including length of contract, bonuses,  salary, endorsement and sponsorship deals, properties and other business interests.

Last year's Goal Rich List revealed Ronaldo had a personal wealth of £122m, with Messi close behind on £120.5m.
