Kimilili MP-elect Didmus Barasa (pictured) will have to present himself physically to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) officials in Bungoma to collect his election certificate.

This is after Kimilili Returning Officer George Omondi declined to hand over the certificate to Barasa's agent.

Barasa who was in the race to retain his Kimillili MP seat on a UDA party ticket was declared winner by the electoral body on Thursday morning after garnering 26,861 votes against his main competitor DAP-K's Brian Khaemba's 9,497.

Barasa is wanted by the police over his alleged involvement in a shooting incident, on Tuesday night, that left Brian Khaemba's aide dead.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered the police to arrest the UDA MP-elect.

The 24-hour ultimatum given by police for the legislator to surrender elapsed on Thursday morning.

Didmus was still at large as of Thursday afternoon.
