Seven people have been killed on spot in a horrific road accident in Munalo area along Webuye-Eldoret road, Kakamega County.

The grisly road accident happened yesterday night when a Nissan full of passengers rammed into a stationary trailer, leaving several other passengers nursing serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Webuye Level Four Hospital but in critical condition.

Western Regional Police Commander Isaa Mohamud Confirmed the incident stating that a number of people are in critical condition.

"It is true the accident happened, seven died on spot, we have taken some to the hospital for treatment but they are in critical condition and we will give more details," said Mohamud.

The Regional Police Commander urged road users especially drivers to be vigilant stating that they have increased a number of police officers in black spot areas for inspection.

"We have enough police officers and we have deployed enough on our roads to carry out inspection for those flouting traffic rules this festive season," said Mohamud.
