Everyone has a distinct natural body odor. However, there is a significant difference between this normal element of being human and having an unsightly body odour.

Without a doubt no one wants to smell musty. And if you’ve noticed people don’t like being around you because of this, maybe it is time to work on that.

Here are some easy ways to help you get rid of body odour naturally:

  • Adjust your diet

Many people might not know that what we eat has a direct impact on how we smell. And, it’s not just about eating healthy because certain foods that are considered healthy can still make body odour worse if you’re already struggling with that.

Foods like red meat, spicy foods and Sulphur rich foods like onions can trigger a stronger smell. You can limit how often you eat these foods to reduce the amount of body odour you might have.

  • Shower more often

Those hot days can make our bodies sweat more than usual. Or, maybe you’re just someone who sweats more and that might be the reason why you have body odour.

To eliminate the odour, you should try and shower at least twice a day every day, to clear the sweat off your body. This won’t give an opportunity for bacteria that’s naturally found on your skin to mix with sweat, which causes the smell.

  • Shower the right way

Body odour can happen if you skip a few important steps in your hygiene regimen. Some sweat can hide in folds on your skin and after a while, this can accumulate and cause odour.

Be extra keen when washing areas like in between the buttocks and the toes so that no sweat accumulates.

It’s also important to dry your body properly after you shower as well. Any trapped moisture can also cause those areas to smell if you’re not careful.

  • Try natural treatments

There are a couple of home remedies that might work for you. A common treatment is applying neem paste on your armpits then rinsing off after about 15 minutes.

Another remedy you can try is green tea. You can place a green tea bag soaked in warm water on the affected area for a few minutes before rinsing, to help regulate sweating and odour.

  • Wear the right clothes

Materials that aren’t breathable can make your body smell once it comes into contact with sweat, especially on a hot day.

Some of the best options you should consider are cotton and linen. These materials allow your body to breathe and they are also able to release any sweat instead of trapping it on your body.

Also, always go for cotton or cotton blend underwear.

Side Note:

Body odour could also be caused by an underlying medical condition. If you have tried everything without success, seek medical advice.
