Mombasa Sports Club take charge in Coast cricket league

Mombasa Sports Club maintained their grip in the Coast 50 overs cricket league after they won their fourth consecutive match.

Sports Club defeated Burhani Sports Club by four wickets to maintain their unbeaten run in the league and enhance chances of being crowned champions.

The winners won the toss and opted to field with Burhani scoring 134 runs all out. Iddris Yusufali bagged 41 runs before he was bowled out by Vishal Shikotra, while Rakep Patel and Yusuf Hussein contributed 40 and 35 runs.

Mombasa Sports Club bowlers Taaha Sulemanji and Shukan Mehta were outstanding with 4/13 and 3/8 respectively.

Chasing the target of 134, Mombasa Sports Club easily hit it with four wickets to spare as Abdulatif Nooran bagged 23 before he was bowled out by Rakep Patel. Abraham Vadada added 22 runs, while Raj Shikotra had 20.

Rakep Patel was the top bowler for Burhani with 3/27, while Murtaza Jafferali had 2/30.

In earlier matches, Mombasa Sports Club defeated former champions Jaffery Sports Club by 167 runs before they beat Shree Catchi Leva by three wickets.

They also stopped Mombasa Heat by 216 runs.
