Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) continued with their winning ways beating their Kenya Army compatriots 3-1 in the Kenya Volleyball Federation Men's National League match played yesterday at Nyayo Gymnasium.

The victory increased KDF's chances of finishing the 2024-2025 regular season in the top four. The Elisha Aliwa-coached side has been brilliant this season and are also top-contenders for the title. KDF were dominant from the onset with Kenya Army putting up a relentless fight in the first set.

However, KDF would be more tactical to take the first and second sets 25-21 and 25-18. Kenya Army fought tooth and nail to win the third set 28-26 but would fumble again to allow KDF take the fourth set 25-19 and carry the day.

Equity Bank ended the regular season on a high yesterday as they trounced Kenya Forest Services (KFS) in straight sets of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21.

The bankers, who consolidated their place in the top five, garnered a total of 31 points from 10 wins and four losses and will now shift their focus to the play-offs set for next month.

Despite the loss, KFS is still in the battle for a top eight spot that will see them remain in the race for the title.

Western Prisons escaped relegation following their 3-1 win over the National Youth Service (NYS) whose fate in the top tier is already sealed. Western Prisons rallied from a set down after NYS had held the nerve to grab it 30-28 to take the next three sets 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21 to register their fourth win of the season. Western Prisons recovered from Thursday's 3-1(21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 26-24) loss to Administration Police of Kenya (APK).

NYS who have so far won one match and Mt Kenya Base Yetu who are yet to taste victory will be relegated to Division Two. The regular season will end today setting the stage for bruising battles in the play-offs.
