KCB beat champions Prisons in final leg of league action

Champions Kenya Prisons found the going tougher after they were beaten 3-2 (25-27, 20-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-11) by KCB in a five-setter thriller as the national women volleyball regular league concluded at the Koitalel Samoei University College in Mososriot, Nandi County on Friday.

The top four teams will head for the play-offs to determine the 2022 champions.

KCB coach Japheth Munala will now head to the play-offs full of confidence of wrestling the title from Kenya Prisons.

Kenya Pipeline under coach Paul Gitau completed their league assignments with unbeaten record after they defeated Directorate of Criminal Investigation 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) in their final regular league match.

In another women league match, Kenya Defence Force (KDF) was awarded a walkover 3-0 (25-0, 25-0, 25-0) after their opponents Nairobi Prisons failed to turn up.

Kenya Army were also awarded a walkover 3-0 (25-0, 25-0, 25-0) after would be opponents Vihiga failed to travel to honour the fixture.

At the sametime, men national league's first leg served off at the same venue on Friday where KDF hit Equity bank 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 35-33, 25-15) to make a good start in the league.

Kenya Prisons whitewashed Administration Police (AP) 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) while Trail Blazers dispatched Prisons Nyanza 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-14). [Ernest Ndunda]
