Kenya Volleyball Federation national and branch executive committees will remain in office longer.

Their term of office was extended by three months during the federation's annual general meeting held on Saturday at Nyayo National Stadium.

This was in compliance with the federation's constitution which states that elected members shall hold office for a term of four years from the closing of the General Meeting at which they were elected until closing of the General Meeting held in the fourth subsequent year.

Since there were no elections on Saturday after the federation failed to comply with the 2013 Sports Act, the delegates mandated the outgoing national office to organise for another AGM where elections will be held to usher in new office.

The three-month period will also give room for the registration of the new branches/counties and elections held in readiness of the national elections. The eagerly awaited AGM was held on Saturday at Nyayo amid a lot of drama.

Due to the drama, most of the agendas, which were to be discussed on that day were shelved as the federation is yet to comply with the 2013 Sports Act.

Despite the financial statement approved by the National Executive Committee, the delegates turned down the audited report prepared by the federation treasurer Kenneth Tonui. Next meeting is set for October. [Ernest Ndunda]
