Kenya Volleyball Federation will hold its annual general meeting on July 30 with the main agenda being holding elections.

The incumbent president Waithaka Kioni is serving his second and final term.

According to the 2013 Sports Act, Kioni who has served the federation in the past 20 years, cannot seek re-election after a two-term limit was put in place to all elected officials.

The top seat has attracted three candidates, who have been traversing all branches across the country in search of votes ahead of the AGM, which will be held at Nyayo Stadium.

Deputy president Charles Nyaberi will square it out with former national women’s volleyball team manager David Kilundo and former KCB women’s volleyball coach Edward Nalianya for the top seat.

Malkia Strikers coach Paul Bitok will vie for the deputy president position, saying he would like to transit gradually to the top seat.

In an earlier interview, Bitok said he is focused on being at the helm of the federation.

“My focus is to be the president of the federation, but not this year. I will go for the top seat in the 2027 elections, God willing,” said the former international player.

He said he would like to use his international connections and take the sport to the next level once elected in the administration executive.

While issuing the AGM notice, KVF’s secretary Ben Juma asked all branches to hold their quadrennial meetings before July 16.

Juma said each branch will be represented by three members, same as primary schools, secondary schools and university sports associations.
