Beach volleyball action moves to Makueni County this weekend for the FIVB Beach Volleyball Homologated National Tour.

This will be the second tour of the eight-legs, which will end in August next year, according to the Beach Commission of Kenya Secretary General Sammy Mulinge.

Mulinge said the commission will use the tours as part of their preparations for the Africa qualifiers for the Commonwealth Games set for Ghana next month and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

“We want to have a strong base of players who will be available for international assignments,” said Mulinge adding that the weekend tournament will be at Kaiti River in Wote.

Mulinge urged teams to register before Friday to enable the organisers automatically generate the pools and the order of play. As the national circuit enters second round, Gladys Wangu and Phosca Kasisi lead in the women category after the Homabay event with six points while the pair of Maurine Wekesa and Mercy Iminza are second with five points.

Marion Indeche and Joan Baraza have four points while Lilian Akinyi and Janet Agaya have three points in fourth position.
