Kenya shine in East Africa School games

Hosts Kenya won four more titles at the Brookside East Africa Secondary School Games currently on in Eldoret. After failing to excel last year the Kenyans came back stronger reclaiming the girls' volleyball and handball titles, boys' handball and boys' hockey.
AIC Kosirai bagged their maiden girls' volleyball title after beating perennial rivals Soweto Academy 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16) reclaiming the title Kwanthanze lost to GS Indagaburezi of Rwanda last year.
Lugulu Girls completed a one-two-three finish with a 3-2 (23-25, 25-11, 24-26, 25-11 and 15-11) conquest over Indagaburezi in third place place playoffs.
In hockey, Friends School Kamusinga recaptured their boys' hockey title. The national champions topped the table with 11 points after five rounds of matches in their round-robin competition. Kamusinga grabbed the trophy following three victories and two draws.
In handball, national champions St Luke’s Kimilili and Moi Girls Kamusinga seized both the boys' and girls' gongs after emerging victorious in their respective finals.
Kamusinga led by captain Jacinta Leli beat Mbogo of Uganda 26-16 to reclaim the title they last won in 2013. Sega Girls finished third after beating Hanika of Rwanda 26-18.
Kimilili on the other hand were the better side in an-all-Kenyan final humbling St Peter’s Chesirikwa 30-20 ending an eleven-year long wait to have their hands on the title.
In football, Homeboys Barding will lock horns with 12-time regional champions St Mary’s Kitende of Uganda in the boys' football finals.
Bukembe edged Kibuli also of Uganda 1-0 to set a date with Kitende who humbled Friends School Bukembe 2-0 in the semis. In the girls' contest, national champions St John’s Kaloleni will face off with GS Remera of Rwanda in a repeat of their opening match.
St John’s will be hoping to outshine the Rwandan girls once again after they beat them 2-1 in the opener.
