Kenya play All African Games gold medallists Mauritius in the final of CAVB Women’s Continental Cup in beach volleyball after both sides advanced following semi-final victories at Palm Beach in Gisenyi, Rwanda.

The competition provides the ultimate winner with a place in the 2012 London Olympic Games while second and third will have another chance to qualify through the World Cup Beach Volleyball competition.

Mauritius recorded an outstanding 3-1 win over third seeded South Africa in the first semi-final. South African pairing of Palesa Sekhnyana/Randy Williams won the first match against Prisca Serungen/Marie Bauda 2-1 (21-7, 17-21, 15-7).

Mauritius rebounded back to clinch three successive matches with two of them won by the golden pair Natacha Rigobert and Elodie Li Yuk, who achieved the gold medal of 2011 All Africa Games.

On the other hand Kenya overwhelmed the struggling Mozambique 3-1 in a thrilling encounter that started by 2-0 lead for the Kenyan team.

Mozambique won the third match through the sisters Cumbi to regain the hope of a final spot but the Kenyans were more clinical in their finishing department to win the fourth match narrowly 2-1 (21-17, 10-21, 15-13) through the pair of Edna Rotich and Eunice Maiyo.

The other Kenyan pair features veterans Margaret Indakala and Dorcas Ndasaba who are both former members of the National team.
