Nairobi senator Mike Sonko was among many Kenyans who responded overwhelmingly to a touching story published we published in our April 22—28 edition.

The story highlighted the plight of the family of Mr and Mrs Mburu.

Senator Mike Sonko shared the story on his Facebook page and pledged his support for the family.

“As promised yesterday through my FB page and Kameme FM, today I dispatched my ambulance team to Njoro, Nakuru County to rescue Grace Muthoni, wife to James Mburu, who lost his job a couple of months ago as he took care of his ailing dear wife... Leo ni Grace kesho ni wewe au mimi let’s help with the little we have. Send your donation to paybill number 922565 GRACE MUTHONI MEDICAL FUND,” Sonko posted on his timeline.

Grace Mburu was taken ill in October 2013 and since then, she and her husband have been moving from one hospital to another seeking treatment. She was diagnosed with diabetes. She cannot talk or feed normally and has to feed through a tube inserted in her mouth.

Kenyans took to social media to console, pledge and request Mburu’s contacts to help the couple. “You are the most precious man I have ever seen and heard about. You will really conquer and come out a winner in Jesus’ name,” Tonny Maina encouraged.
