A director with a local public university is under investigation over fraud that saw the institution lose over Sh30 million in a land-buying scandal.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (Jkuat) Vice Chancellor Mabel Imbuga yesterday told MPs that the pioneer director at the university's Kigali campus, Anthony Luvanda, had fraudulently misappropriated the money before leaving employment with the university.

He is being investigated by authorities in Rwanda. He is alleged to have raided an account where students deposit their fees.
