Stories of people taking their lives and attempting suicide over failed bets are alarming.

Gamblers have become dejected, despondent and desperate over the desire to get rich.

The gambling arena in Kenya is becoming too much of a dangerous venture because it is addictive and contagious.

Losers do not see the need to quit, instead they are increasing stakes in bets with hopes of recovering lost fortunes.

It is quite devastating that betting has left none out of the activity. Walking in towns, streets, villages and even schools, the story is the same.

More appalling is that students in higher learning institutions have joined the club and even gamble with their school fees.

Another lot of Kenyans who do not even have an idea of what gambling is are now masquerading as gurus and consultants.

Who will save the Kenyan society from gambling activities?

Betting sites too, are on the increase. It has ensured gamblers do not lack in options for sites to place bets, both online and through phone messages.

The Government should intervene and restore sanity in the gambling business.

The gambling menace has taken the country by storm and its obsession is contagious.

Stakeholders needs to act urgently, lest we lose our meager resources in the name of betting.
