Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has accused Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony of being ungrateful.

Mr Murkomen said despite having helped Chepkwony survive impeachment in 2014, the governor has never even thanked him.

The two have been engaged in a political spat since Murkomen suggested that Mr Chepkwony was not loyal to Deputy President William Ruto a fortnight ago.

Murkomen accused Chepkwony of being a "political watermelon" during the new Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot's thanksgiving ceremony attended by, among others, Deputy President William Ruto.

He claimed the governor was in Jubilee during day time and with the Opposition at night.

Last Sunday, Murkomen came face-to-face with the governor at Moi Gardens in Kericho town during a thanksgiving ceremony for the Deputy President for his victory over the International Criminal Case (ICC) organised by Kericho Pastors Fellowship.

Murkomen said instead of the governor expressing his gratitude for saving him from impeachment, he had chosen to fight him politically.

"The governor recently issued a press statement in which he warned me that I was not welcome to Kericho over my remarks questioning his loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto," said Murkomen.

He added, "I was surprised by the governor's statement because I remember I was one of the senators who rescued him from impeachment but he has never taken time to say a word of gratitude."

But Chepkwony hit back at Murkomen, saying he was fed up with the senator's frequent accusations that he was not loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy.
