ODM's decision to reject three Nyanza governors' plea for direct nomination is a show of political maturity.

Last week, governors Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), and Jack Ranguma (Kisumu) asked for direct party nominations.

This is a misunderstanding of the party's ideology of democracy as the party's name depicts. In a move to restore the party's integrity, ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba and Chairman John Mbadi rejected the requests, saying that fairness will prevail.

Every candidate in the next general election has to work hard to convince the electorate that he or she is worth a given seat. Before the next polls, those who are in power should ensure they have a good development record to entice voters.

Every party or coalition is believed to have strategies to campaign for their respective presidential flag bearers. The claim by the three governors that free tickets will allow them much time to campaign for Raila Odinga's presidential bid is invalid. This is just nothing but a show of panic.
