There was shock as residents found a beheaded body of a three-year-old girl outside a home in Nyandarua County.

The girl is believed to have been defiled and then beheaded by unknown assailants since she was bleeding from her private parts.

This is the third incident this year that has seen three children die in a similar manner. Residents of Gwa Kungu village in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County have now raised the alarm.

John Mbugua, a resident, said the girl was among four other children playing while two people, who claimed to be her relatives, accosted them before chasing the others away. "It is believed they killed her," he said.

According to Mbugua, the parents of the girl thought she had spent the night at the neighbour's place, only to wake up and find her body.

Nyandarua Woman rep Faith Gitau, who visited the family yesterday, demanded that investigations be launched into the mysterious deaths.

Nyandarua North OCPD Morris Assilah said investigations have been launched into the chilling deaths.

The two leaders condoled with the families and promised to bring the culprits to book.
