Women should have sex seven times, men six times a month

Professor Halimu Shauri, a sociologist at Pwani University, says the psychology behind married men sleeping with prostitutes and risking everything in the process is still unexplained, although there is a strong element of the desire to dominate.

“Men are sadistic by nature. They usually want to punish a woman during sex, and since they can’t punish their wives by subjecting them to extreme sexual positions or rough sex, they go out to find a person who is willing to satisfy that fantasy, for a fee. That’s why prostitution can’t end. Prostitutes do what mama watoto can’t do, and since men respect mama watoto they can’t do wheelbarrow style with her,” explains the don.

University of Nairobi sociologist, Ken Ouko, says one area that has been under-researched is sexuality, and it is because in African culture, sexuality and sexual satisfaction is considered a taboo.

“As I speak, we don’t know how many times a man is supposed to have sex in a month on average. So, adults who are involved in sexual relations don’t even know their roles when it comes to sexual satisfaction as husbands or wives,” says the lecturer.

He adds that there is a psychological variance between paid sex and other types of unfaithfulness. “Visiting a brothel is always solely for sex. There is no conquest, or satisfying your ego. It is just but a business transaction,” says Ouko elaborating that in Europe, it has been researched and concluded that a woman should have sex seven times in a month and men should have it six times.

“Going by those figures, it shows that Kenyans are ‘under sexed.’ Married people maybe do it two or three times in a month, and that creates opportunity for men to go out there and get satisfied,” explains Ouko, noting that assumption that men are polygamous by nature is stereotypical and has no scientific bearing.

Ouko also observes that most men will generally perform better with women they sleep with outside their normal routine.

“There is the need to prove to the new catch how good you are, but with mama watoto, there is familiarity, and you know you can always get it any time or the next day.”
