NAIROBI: A man lodged a complaint with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday after the Supreme Court allegedly refused to take his petition.
Charles Ndungu Mwangi, the executive chairman of Public Corruption, Ethics and Governance Watch, is accusing Chief Justice Willy Mutunga of allowing corruption to thrive in the Judiciary.
"The Supreme Court has violated my rights by refusing to register my petition," said Mr Mwangi in the petition documents.
The non-governmental organisation (NGO) official is seeking answers on whether it is right for Dr Mutunga to create the rank of a Chief of Staff in his office, a position currently held by Dancun Okello, without advertising the job.
Mwangi claims that on February 2, 2016, the Supreme Court registrar failed to register his petition in which he is seeking a constitutional interpretation on whether Mutunga has the right to employ Mr Okello.

"Mutunga should be removed from the judiciary system for promoting and entertaining corruption and refusing to act," reads the petition.
"My petition was termed as illegal. Mutunga should produce a copy of the recommendation for JSC to the President in regard to the new rank of Judicial Chief of General Staff and if not he be removed from the Judiciary," says Mwangi.
He is also claims that Okello's suitability to the post is questionable.
Mwangi says Mutunga has plunged the Supreme Court into a chaos.
Mutunga created the new post in 2011 and named Okello the office's first holder.
Okello's responsibilities are co-ordinating relations with government departments, the private sector and non-governmental organisations.
