Gor Mahia will be ready to take part in the 2020/2021 Champions League with or without the resumption of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), the club CEO Lordvick Aduda has said.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed Gor Mahia as Kenya's representatives in the competition.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) forwarded Gor's name after annulling the KPL on April 30 even though the KPL management challenged the move.

Speaking to Standard Sports yesterday, Aduda said their main goal from the start of the 2019-2020 was to play in the Champions’ League.

“K’Ogalo have been regulars in Champions League for the past three years and there will be nothing different with this year’s qualification,” Aduda said.

“We are confident whether the league resumes or is ended. If things change and the league is to be completed, we will do our best and win,” he said.

However, Aduda said they will wait for the final decision from the court on the case pitting KPL and Chemelil Sugar against FKF over their decision to end the 2019/20 season.

KPL CEO Jack Oguda, on the other hand, said they can do nothing until a decision is made by the courts.

"I cannot comment on the Champions League and Gor Mahia issue right now since the case is in court.

“For now, our hands are tied. We cannot intervene nor do anything because our case is in the SDT. We are eagerly waiting for the final decision from the court for way forward,” he said.

Kisumu All Stars and Western Stima management have already broken camp.
