Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

Klopp added that the injury isn't as bad as first feared and revealed that the rest of his Liverpool team are currently in good health.

"It could have been worse," said Klopp in his Friday press conference. "We all know it was a hamstring injury. It's not that bad but he will be out for three weeks or so which is not cool but as we see it, it's lucky."

Henderson was pictured leaving the hospital on Friday following a scan on his hamstring.

The Reds captain came off as a substitute towards the end of Liverpool's Champions League defeat by Atletico Madrid after pulling up with the problem.

James Milner replaced the skipper after 80 minutes, leaving Reds boss Jurgen Klopp sweating over his fitness for the second leg on March 11. Klopp said after the Atletico match: "Hendo felt his hamstring, unfortunately. We have to wait. He was not too concerned but enough to go off obviously."

Bookmakers recently made Henderson favourite to be crowned PFA Player of the Year at the end of the season.

Team-mate Andy Robertson told Sky Sports: "For me, I think he's the leading candidate. At times this season when we've struggled Hendo has been the one that has driven us forward.

"He's the one who has made sure we don't get slack, or he has chipped in with some really important goals or really important assists.

"Maybe his performances at the start of the season went a little bit under the radar, but as the season has progressed he's not really had a bad game. "You really appreciate him when you train with him every day and in this country, he's not been appreciated enough in his character.

"He's getting the recognition he deserves because he is a fantastic player, a fantastic role model, and a fantastic captain.

"He's driven us to three points at times this season when we've struggled."
