Kisumu Day High School thrashed longtime hockey rivals Kisumu Boys High School 6-0 to seal their ticket to the 2020 Kisumu County Term One Secondary Schools Games to be hosted in Maseno next month.

Captain Lennox Odhiambo scored a hat-trick with Kelvin Clawns, Javan Omondi and Paul Odero sealing the big win as Kisumu Day continue their dominance over their neighbours.

Speaking to the Standard Sports after the win, Kisumu Day hockey coach Booker Odhiambo congratulated the boys for the big win and promised to play much better when they represent Kisumu Central sub-county in the Maseno next month.

He said they are focused on the county games and will return to train even harder.

“We played well and dominated the game from the start of the first quarter to the end of the fourth quarter. We celebrate today but return to training as the journey has just but began,” he said.

“Our eyes are set on returning to the national arena and therefore we still have a long way to go which require commitment and hard work. If we train well I believe we can reach our goal.”

Both Kisumu Day and Kisumu Boys will represent the Kisumu Central sub-county during the Kisumu County games after being the only two sides to register in hockey.

In the girls' category, Kisumu Girls defeated St Teresa’s Girls in the finals with both teams qualifying for the county games.
