Missing Drury commentating Premier League matches? Beglin reveals his whereabouts

Some football commentators are more entertaining to listen to than watching a match.
As a football fan, you must have been wondering why you no longer get to listen to Peter Drury commentating that mouth-watering Premier League match alongside Jim Beglin.
Well, Peter Drury’s mother is the reason for his absence in the busy December Premier League schedule.
On December 20, Jim Beglin divulged to fans that Drury’s mother was very sick and would not commentate matches as usual. Beglin, however, did not give a date when he would return to action.
“Peter has informed me that due to the very poor health of his mum, he will not be commentating for the immediate future. There is no fixed date for his return so please don’t ask. Thank you,” Beglin’s tweet read.
Watching football on TV has never been boring, especially when Drury is commentating a match.
His voice has become familiar to many football fans worldwide, more specifically, his method of describing and analysing goals.
The celebrated legend of the beautiful game was crowned Commentator of the Year at the 2019 FSA Awards in association with BeGambleAware on December 17.
In 2018 during Barcelona’s shock defeat to AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), Drury’s iconic commentary sent social media into a frenzy.
Italy’s Roma pulled off a sensational second-leg comeback to beat Barca 3-0 and reach UCL semi-finals on away goals.
Barca were heavy favourites to progress after a 4-1 first-leg win, but fell apart to Roma's brilliant showing and Drury made headlines for his poetic work.

Drury’s first job was as an accountant before joining BBC Radio 5Live and commenting during Euro ’96. He was snapped up by ITV during France ’98 FIFA World Cup.
He then joined BT Sport in 2013 where he continues to impress on European football competitions including Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
