KCB coach Olago happy with win over Impala

KCB coach Curtis Olago was impressed with his side’s second half display after overcoming Impala Saracens 25-3 over the weekend.
The Kenya Cup round 10 match played at the KCB Sports Club, was scoreless at halftime.
The defending champions emerged strongly for the second half to claim the win courtesy of tries by Oliver Mang’eni, Griffin Musila and Vincent Onyala.
Darwin Mukidza struck two penalties and two conversions for the bankers while Samuel Oliech delivered Impala’s consolation with the boot.
“We lost our heads at some point in the opening half. I am glad the boys settled in the second half and started playing to our structure,” Olago said in a post-match interview.

“We had to calm down because we needed a positive result. We have seen our faults and we shall work on that before our next match,” added Olago.
In an earlier match at the same venue, Mean Machine’s relegation worries persisted as the University of Nairobi outfit slumped to a 53-8 loss to Mwamba.
It was the students’ ninth loss of the campaign, which sees them remain rooted at the bottom of the standings with a paltry five points.
“Mwamba actually overpowered us in the scrums. It was all about our mental instability as well as poor communication on the field,” Machine coach Ramsfield Matekwa said, adding that injury to full-back Valentine Odoyo also played a part in their loss.
At the Jamhuri Showgrounds, Nondescripts beat Strathmore Leos 26-18, a result that saw them dislodge Kenya Harlequin from third position on the standings.
Quins suffered a shock 16-15 loss to Blak Blad at the Kenyatta University grounds.
“We got the win and that’s what we came for although we showed a few weaknesses.
“Having two players condemned to the sin-bin was not a good thing and as usual, every game comes with vital lessons,” Nondies coach Willis Ojal said.
“I appreciate the hard work the boys have put in. We are taking each game at a time and we shall keep on working hard because we are not where we intend to be,” said Ojal.
In other matches, Nakuru RFC beat neighbours Menengai Oilers 46-37 as Kabras Sugar saw off Homeboyz 39-24 at the Kakamega Showground.
