Former Premier League referee Bobby Madley is now officiating in the Norwegian sixth tier.

Madley left his role in the English top-flight in August, with the Premier League suggesting he had decided to relocate due to a "change in personal circumstances".

The 33-year-old, who took charge of 91 Premier League matches, also split from his wife.

Madley is now taking charge of lower league matches in Norway having moved to Oslo with new partner Jenny Emilie Johanessen, reports the Sun.

All officials in Norway and are associated with a team but Madley, who has been taken on by Abildso, hopes to be considered for top-flight Eliteseria football when the new season starts in March.

"I would love to take charge in Eliteseria at some point, but I have to work hard and prove my trust first. It's just fair," he told TV station NRK.

"Just because I refereed in the Premier League does not make me better than any other referee in Norway and it gives me no right to got to the top level."

It was reported back in August that Madley was sacked after sending an inappropriate social media message.

Sky Sports claimed Madley sent a message claiming he would be able to win a race against a disabled man on a school sports day.

The PGMOL were tight-lipped over the reasons surrounding his departure, having been promoted to a top-flight referee in 2013.
