Manchester United new boy Diogo Dalot has been pictured on crutches just days after signing for the club.

The teenager sealed his move from Porto last week, arriving at Old Trafford in a £17.4million deal.

Dalot was in Manchester over the weekend and even made a first visit to his new home to watch Soccer Aid on Sunday night.

The young defender was pictured on crutches as he recovers from knee surgery as he attended the star-studded encounter at Old Trafford.

That injury ended his season prematurely at Porto but Dalot was still able to complete his medical at United.

Dalot is expected to be fit in time for United's pre-season on July 15, with Jose Mourinho's men travelling to the United States.

After completing the deal, Mourinho said: "Diogo is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club.

"He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.

"In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe and we all believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Manchester United."

Mourinho is said to have made a crucial role in Dalot's decision to sign for United with 13 clubs believed to be keen on making a move.
