Oserian Ladies beat Wadadia 3-1 in a Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League match played at Oserian Grounds yesterday.

Wadadia’s sensational forward Ruth Chelagat opened the scores in the third minute, but the visitors’ joy was short-lived as Oserian leveled matters in the 17th minute, thanks to a Silvia Shilabukha’s strike.

The sides went to the breather on a level, but it was the home side that extended the lead in the 72nd minute with a goal from Linda Ajwang’.

With 10 minutes to the final whistle, Brenda Shirikwa added a third for the Flower Girls to make sure they pick maximum points.

Oserian Ladies came into the match on the back of a 2-1 loss to Kayole Starlets last weekend, their first defeat of the season while Wadadia ran over Baringo Starlets 14-0.

The last time the two sides met, they forced a 2-2 draw in the first leg played at Naivasha, but Oserian dominated Wadadia in the second leg with a clinical 12-1 at Mumias Complex. Speaking to Standard Sports after the match, Oserian coach Hudson Odari said it was important to pick maximum points at home.

“Wadadia is a good side, their work rate is so high. First half we were at 1-1 and we had to change our tactics that gave us the two goals in the second half.

“Consistency has helped us maintain the momentum and despite missing our dependable striker Dorcas Shikobe, I am happy with the results,” Odari said.[Rebecca Jebet]
