Mercedes Benz up for grabs at Kenya Open: Victor Riu, Niclas Johansson and Pedro Figueiredo earn slots

A Mercedes Benz GLC 250 Coupe worth about Sh11 million is up for grabs at this year’s Barclays Kenya Open Golf Tournament at Muthaiga Golf Club.
The player who successfully sinks a hole-in-one at the 13th hole of the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Club will win the car.
The sleek Mercedes sports has features such as Google Maps with voice command, intelligent lighting, cornering light function which adapts to the road 20m ahead of a corner and Pre-Safe Function which detects a collision and reduces impact of the collision, should it eventually happen.
Last year, Oliver Lindell from Finland, sank the first-ever competitive hole-in-one at the Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship to win a Ford Ranger WildTrak worth Sh6.9 million.
The Finn is back for this year’s tournament and will be fancying his chances over the period of the tournament at an occasion where many other players will also try their luck at the Sh11 Million car. The Championship features 156 players, 106 of whom are selected on merit.
Meanwhile, Kenya missed the final three slots for the 2018 Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship on Monday afternoon at the par 72 Vet Lab course during the Pre-Qualifications where all Kenyan Professional golfers took part.
The slots went to Frenchman Victor Riu, who qualified automatically after posting a six-under par 66 gross while Swedish Niclas Johansson and Portuguesse Pedro Figueiredo joined him after emerging second and third respectively in a six-man play-off decider.
The Pre-Qualifier was the last opportunity for any golf professional, local or foreign to grab a last-minute ticket into the most lucrative tournament on the 2018 European Challenge Tour.
Kenya Tourism board last evening hosted the players to a Game Drive at Nairobi National Park and an evening cocktail for the day one Pro-Am event prize giving ceremony. Round two of the Pro-Am is played today.
