Football: Wananchi wins Standard Trophy

Wananchi Group were on Saturday crowned the winners of the Standard Chartered Trophy “Road to Anfield”2018 after beating last year’s runners up Letshego 3-0 at the St Mary’s School Grounds, Nairobi.

Former champions The Standard Media Group were eliminated 2-0 on post match penalties in the round of 16 by their rivals Nation Media Group, who later lost in the quarterfinals.

Two times champions Capital FM also suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Scanad in the last eight. The Standard Group finished second in Group B after winning four and losing one. [Rodgers Eshitemi]
