Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday stated that 20 doctors from Cuba are set to arrive in the country to help manage the Coronavirus.

While speaking in Kiriaini, Murang’a County, CS Kagwe said the doctors will be in the country for an initial three months that might be extended and will be based at the Kenyatta University Hospital.

This comes as the country recorded 389 new positive cases, taking the national tally to 12062.

Out of the 389, 260 were male while 129 were female.

The CS called on men to emulate women and wear masks at all times to keep the virus at bay.

Dr Loice Ombajo, a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi and Head of Infectious Disease Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), on Thursday stated that there is a high likelihood that a significant percentage of the population will get the Coronavirus.

Speaking during an interview on a local TV station, Dr Ombajo said that the virus might overwhelm us soon.

“Many of us will probably get infected eventually… We can only hope we will be asymptomatic.

“The reopening is a sad point for me. COVID-19 may potentially overwhelm us soon,” she remarked.

Ever since the country was reopened, the number of infections have been on the rise, something the Ministry of Health says was expected.
