Former Manchester City and Arsenal full-back Bacary Sanga is set to make a return to football by signing for the worst performing club in Europe this season.

According to Sky Sports reporter based in Italy Gianluca Di Marzio, relegation-threatened Serie A side Benevento are considering bringing Sagna on board to help boost their chances of surviving the drop.

Italian Outlet Correre dello Sport, however, reported that Benevento is not willing to sign Sagna, not until he had undergone trials, considering his age and fitness.

Sagna has been a free agent since he was released by Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) six months ago.

Benevento is currently struggling in the Serie A with a total of 7 points after 21 games.

Sagna has made 464 career appearances, having played for French outfit AJ Auxerre, Arsenal and most recently Manchester City.

He won the League Cup with Manchester City in 2016 and the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2014.
