Kenya's top shooter, Master Ibrahim Ndung'u, and his daughter, Mariam Ibrahim, were over the moon after dominating the Mombasa Extreme International Practical IPSC Level 2 Shooting Championships at the Bamburi Rifle Club in Mombasa County over the weekend.

Ndung'u claimed gold in the Production Division after outclassing Kenya’s top female shooter, Agnes Muchiri from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who settled for the silver medal.

Moris Mureithi rounded off the podium positions with a bronze medal in the tournament that attracted 63 shooters.

And like father, like daughter, Mariam Ibrahim won the overall title in the Ladies category.

Mariam defeated Agnes Muchiri, who was second, while Judy Wanja took third place.

Mariam, 16, also won a silver medal in the PCC Division, which was clinched by Geoffrey Pesa as Adan Barow finished third.

“My daughter is so talented and passionate about shooting that is why I took this initiative to train her, and I am sure one day she will compete internationally and win medals for Kenya,” a jubilant Ibrahim Ndung'u said.

Ndung'u will now lead Kenyan team in the Extreme Euro Open Championship in the Czech Republic next weekend before representing the nation in the World Handgun Championship slated for September in South Africa. He will participate in the competition together with his daughter, Mariam Ibrahim.
