Braeburn Swimming Club consolidated their spot as the kings and queens of the pool during the Nairobi County Swimming Association (NCSA) Long Course Invitational Swimming Championships at Kasarani Aquatic Stadium at the weekend.

They cumulatively garnered 105 medals to crown a successful year that has seen them shine in all meets. Braeburn boys won 29 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze medals while the girls secured 18 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze.

However, Kenyans missed out on the Iron Man and Iron Lady accolades which were won by Dolphin Swim Club Kampala's Pendo Kaumi and Ssali Mackayla.

After meeting all the requirements to compete in the Iron Man contest, Kaumi touched the wall first in a time of 1:02.37 to win the 100m and be crowned the best swimmer in the boys' category.

His compatriot Ian Aziku was second in 1:03.74 with homeboy Tevin Waweru of Raptors Swim Club coming in third 1.07 seconds later.

Mackayla proved that Ugandans meant business when she snatched the Iron Lady top honours in a time of 1:06.59 with Marion Alala of Seahorse Aquatic Centre finishing second in 1:08.24.

Saniyah Omoro of Hydra Swim Club settled for the third spot after touching the wall 0.02 seconds later.

Dolphin's Swim Club Kampala finished second in both boys' and girls' categories. The boys won 17 gold, 23 silver and 21 bronze medals while Seahorse finished third with 13 gold, nine silver and seven bronze.

United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Dolphins Swim Club and Little Fish Swim Club completed the boys top five clubs with 20 medals each.

The Ugandan girls grabbed 10 gold, 10 silver and six bronze to finish second with Seahorse settling for third place with eight gold, 11 silver and nine bronze.

Kenton College and Sailfish Swim Club finished fourth and fifth with 13 and 14 medals respectively.
